Launched in Chennai in 2005, The Hindu MetroPlus Theatre Fest has grown to become one of the best-known theatre festivals in the country. Over the years, the Fest has showcased theatre from various parts of India and the world. This year marks a watershed in the evolution of the festival, which travels this month to three other South Indian cities – Hyderabad, Bangalore and your own, Coimbatore.

The festival in your city features four plays, the details of which are provided in this brochure.

We open with evam’s Five Point Someone, an adaptation of the hugely popular novel by Chetan Bhagat, which narrates the story of pressures and delights of studying in an IIT campus with great humour and insight.

Next up, we have One on One by Rage Productions, a collection of sharp, funny and extremely perceptive short plays by some of Mumbai’s best-known actors and directors. The play was showcased earlier this year at The MetroPlus Theatre Fest in Chennai, where it was received very warmly.

This is followed by another Mumbai production Hamlet –The Clown Prince, an award-winning production that has delighted audiences wherever it has been staged. The curtains come down with Ms. Meena, a bold and inventive adaptation of a Swiss play, by a Chennai group.

We hope The MetroPlus Theatre Fest becomes an annual event in Coimbatore and we seek your support in making the inaugural edition a success.

Tickets are priced at Rs. 300, 200 and 100. Season passes are available for Rs. 900 & Rs. 600.
