Young vocalist Maharajapuram S. Ganesh Viswanathan is not just a promising singer. Grandson of celebrated musician Maharajapuram Santhanam, Ganesh is also professionally trained in Audio Engineering and Recording Arts.
“My desire and dream is to create a firm link between the technician and the Carnatic musician,” says the enthusiastic youngster, who spends a lot of time listening to old recordings of concerts of masters.
“I feel that a good understanding of sound systems and audio technology can beautifully compliment one's ability in music. I enjoy learning more about both these aspects!”
Coffee with Carnatica
Carnatica's much-awaited annual chat show, Sangeetha Sandippu—Carnatic Celebrity Coffee Chat, is back! This is the only event in Carnatic music today that offers rasikas a chance to interact with their favourite stars in an informal atmosphere! Rasikas can ask questions to the musicians ranging from ‘What's your favourite cuisine?' to 'Have you ever experienced stage fright?'!
The second day of the event saw the popular violinist duo Ganesh and Kumaresh, along with the latter's wife Veenai Jayanthi field questions from a full-house about a plethora of topics. While Ganesh and Kumaresh spoke about their days as child prodigies, Veenai Jayanthi regaled the audience with unforgettable incidents from her musical career.
