Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar has said that she regrets never meeting ‘King of Pop’ legend Michael Jackson, whose first death anniversary falls on Friday.

“Never got opportunity to meet him...i’ll always have this regret in my heart... (sic),” Lata wrote on the microblogging site Twitter.

Describing Jackson as one of the greatest pop artists, the 80-year-old legend tweeted, “My humble tribute to one of the greatest pop artists ever, Michael Jackson...may his soul rest in peace...”

Fans around the globe are mourning the pop icon’s first death anniversary today. Jackson died at his rented Los Angeles mansion aged 50, last year.
