An extempore rendition of padyam and ragam randomly selected by audience, marked the avadhanam by Meegada Ramalingaswamy.

Sangeeta Sahitya Navavadhanam conducted by A.P.Bhasha Samskritika Sangham as part of its weekend cultural program series organised a literary and musical treat which was thoroughly enjoyed by the large audience present at the Government Music College. The novel feat was performed by Meegada Ramalingaswamy and compered by scholar Palaparthi Syamalananda Prasad. Well versed in music and literature and winner of 24 Nandi Puraskarams, Ramalingaswamy distributed a list of 50 poems selected from Puranams, Satakams, Prabandhams and more as well as a list of 20 ragas among students of Ramakrishna Mission. He then asked them to select a padyam and a ragam randomly from the list and ask him to sing the padyam in the given raga. Ramalingaswamy performed this difficult feat with great ease and spontaneity showing his command on both music and literature.

Some of the items that featured in the Avadhanam were ‘ Jendapai Kapiraju’ (Madhyamavathi), ‘ Vinadagu nevvaru cheppina’ (Sivaranjani), ; Palikedidi Bhagavathamata’(Kedaragowla), ‘ Jariginadani kadavadi’ (Bhageswari) and so on. Speaking on the occasion Golla Narayana Rao, chief secretary of Andhra Arts Academy said that as long as the Padyam is preserved, the human values are protected. Golla Narayana Rao distributed 50 CDs containing famous poems and the Bhasha Samskritika Sangham awarded certificates to the participants. The entire program was efficiently conducted by N.Ch.Butchiahcharyulu.
