Programme in tourism and cargo management

Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), an autonomous organisation of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is one of the premier institutes in the country offering education, training, research and consultancy in the field of tourism, travel and allied sectors. IITTM is a founder member of UN-ESCAP promoted Network of Asia-Pacific Educational and Training Institute in Tourism (APETIT). IITTM is headquartered at Gwalior and has campuses at Bhubaneswar (East), New Delhi (North), Goa (West) and Nellore (South).

The PGDM Tourism and Cargo Management is a two-year full-time programme of IITTM South India Campus at Nellore (Andhra Pradesh), approved by AICTE. This is the first approved PG programme in the country in the area of cargo management. This course offers a vibrant approach to human resource development in the growing tourism and cargo sector. The pedagogy of the course is designed by combining the contemporary developments in the tourism and cargo management scenario with a global outlook.

Dual specialisation would be available to students in the areas of Tourism Marketing, Tour Operation, Air Cargo Management and Shipping Cargo Management.

This is an intensive programme of study covering 32 courses spread across four semesters in two academic sessions. It includes summer training, study tour and live projects. Intake for the course is 60. Government of India reservation is applicable.

The total fee for the course is Rs. 2.5 lakh. State government scholarships are available for deserving candidates.

Eligibility: Candidates seeking admission to the PGDM programme will be required to possess a bachelor's degree (10+2+3 pattern) in any discipline of a university or equivalent thereto.

Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy layer) and physically-challenged candidates will be applicable as per Government of India rules.

Physically-challenged candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates appearing for the final examination are also eligible to apply.

Admission to the programme will be through an admission test conducted by IITTM at Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore on February 26. Candidates having valid C MAT (AICTE-2012)/CAT (2011)/ MAT (May/ Sept/ Dec. 2011, Feb/ May 2012) scores can apply. The group discussion and personal interview will be held at Nellore Campus of IITTM.

Last date for applying MAT/CAT/ CMAT candidates is March 12.
