M.A. Human Rights

This interdisciplinary programme at Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai, spread over two years, and comprises four semesters. Students undergo mandatory internship and receive training in Research Methodology. The course draws inputs from Law, History, Criminology, Political Science, Journalism and Media Studies and other Social Sciences. A graduate of any discipline is eligible to apply for the course.

New courses in management

The Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management (TSCFM), Mumbai, has announced admissions for new courses in Management: (1) Professional Diploma in Media Management: Two certificates are awarded at the end of the six-month course; one certificate being recognised internationally. MSc in data science

University of Sheffield, U.K., is offering a one-year full-time MSc course in Data Science. The course run by the university’s Information School, is centred on three key aspects of data science: fundamental data-related principles, supporting infrastructures, and organisational context. The course is taught in two semesters. The annual fee is £15,610. Automatic scholarships of £2000 are available to Indian students. The programme will have intakes in September and application before July 31 is advised. No prior knowledge of statistics and data analysis or work experience is required. Applicants who do not have their first language as English need an overall IELTSof 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.

Liberal education

Ashoka University is offering a three-year B.Sc/B.A Honours programme in line with recent UGC directives on FYUP. This bachelor’s (Honours) degree will be grounded in the liberal education model. This degree will meet all UGC requirements and pre-requisites for post-graduate admissions in India and in most countries across the world. Those students who would like to meet the credit and four-year requirements for admission to a post-graduate programme in the U.S., can enroll upon graduation in Ashoka's 1-year post-graduate programmes such as the Ashoka Scholar’s Programme focused on advanced studies, research and practice.

Free online course

The University of Auckland from New Zealand has announced its free online courses to students from around the world. The university will be partnering with FutureLearn, a U.K.-based consortium founded by the Open University, to develop and deliver Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). This e-learning project aims to attract a large and diverse international audience.
