Campus capsule: Bangalore


The Oxford Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre was inaugurated on the Bangalore-Hosur Highway, near Attibele.

S. Narasaraju, Chairman, said the institute, established on 32 acres of land with a 700-bed hospital and costing Rs.350 crore, can benefit people in the surrounding villages of Attibele as they will be provided treatment for free.

Banking exhibition

A banking exhibition, ‘Banque’- Banking inside out, was organised at the Kristu Jayanti College. The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of chief guest B. Dileep, Assistant General Manager, Bangalore Region of Federal Bank, and Rev. Fr. Josekutty P.D., Principal, Kristu Jayanti College.

Mr. Dileep said, “There must be a balance between technology and human touch during the gradual progress taking place in banking services.”


PES Institute of Technology held its fourth annual graduation ceremony recently. Graduates from the 2010-14 batch received their provisional degree certificate and transcripts on the occasion. V.S. Subrahmanian, Department of Computer Science, University of Maryland, was the chief guest.

A total of 918 graduates received degree certificates, while gold medals were given to 80 rank holders and programme toppers.

Guest lecture

A guest lecture was organised in the Department of MBA/MCA, Brindavan College. Kishore B.S., Director and CTO, Stock Market Institute, Bangalore, delivered a lecture on the topic “Basics of the stock market and overview analysis”. He advised against making an investment without knowing about the organisation, its owner, its products, and how the products are performing in the market.

Model parliament

Model Youth Parliament or MY Parliament, a policy awareness initiative of the Model Youth Parliament Forum (MYPF), will be held on September 27 and 28 to make the youth aware about parliamentary procedures and develop in students an insight into the working of Parliament. For more details, visit

CII National Summit

CII-Institute of Quality, Bangalore, is hosting its 16th edition of the National Summit on Quality in Education in Bangalore on the theme “Smart measurements for a sustainable educational institution” on September 16-17 at Christ University Campus, Bangalore.

M.V. Rajeev Gowda, MP, will inaugurate the summit. Toby Linden, Lead Education Specialist, World Bank, will speak on “The Indian Education: Status and way forward.” The Finnish Education excellence journey will be elaborated by Suvi Tuominen, Second Secretary, Embassy of Finland, India.

The summit will also have speakers from the government, schools, colleges, corporates and NGOs including AICTE, NBA, Education Design Architects, Rural Relations, NABET, and NCERT.

The summit will feature sessions for higher education institutions and schools covering topics such as Measurement in education: approaches, challenges and way forward; Measuring curriculum effectiveness: the foundation for learning; Creating and effectively utilising learning spaces; Looking beyond education sector for learning; Assessing institutional effectiveness for assuring quality learning; and Anytime anywhere data for effective institution management.

A ‘We did it’ session will feature six case studies by practising educators across the country. Over 500 participants from across the country and abroad are expected to turn up.
