A number of roads around Perambur Railway Hospital draw many morning walkers for its green cover. Most popular among them are Constable Road and Brock Road.
But, increasingly, many walkers are hesitant to take Brock Road, which runs parallel to Constable Road, near the Railway Hospital, due to constant stench emanating form the garbage on the road.
A Cooum stream running between Brock Road and Appadurai Main Street is making the morning walk unpleasant. People throw waste in it. A small iron bridge connects these two stretches.
A few years ago, a wall was constructed on the side of Appadurai Main Street because of the Cooum. But people have started throwing garbage over the wall. Neither the railways nor the Corporation has made any attempts to clean this place, say residents. As a result, snakes and mosquitoes have made it their home.
