Sixteen-year-old Naqiyah Hasan, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, has launched her debut novel.

Feather People , published by Notion Press, is a work of fiction that revolves around the lives of four individuals, who have no clue about each other’s existence yet have something in common.

“Reading my book is like a jigsaw puzzle, you cannot decipher the actual image until the last few pieces are fit in. You need to read till the last chapter,” says Naqiyah, a student of St. Michael’s Academy.

The main character in the book is a 14-year-old and Naqiyah says any teenager will be able to relate to the book. She first came up with the denouement of the book and then wrote the rest of it.

“I make time to write; studies never come in the way of my writing. I wrote at least one chapter a day,” she says adding that the book was completed in seven months.

The class XII student is an avid reader and has been passionate about writing, from a very young age. She loves collecting quotes and has two shelves filled with books.

Naqiyah has started marketing the book through Facebook and hopes her school principal will also help her popularise Feather People . She started by reading Goosebumps and from class VI onwards, got interested in Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series. “After reading Harry Potter, I felt like writing more,” she says. The book is available on Amazon, Flipkart and Bookadda.
