For 43-year-old Priya Prasad, a fitness enthusiast, running was her passion since school days and she was a short distance athlete in Bangalore.

However, her passion for running received a boost when she along with her family moved to Chennai five years ago.

“During school days, I was very active as a 200 metres short distance runner. Switching to long distance running was difficult both physically and mentally. However, with support from my family especially my husband, my switch to marathon running was smooth,” says Priya.

The neighbourhood gym too helped her gain more stamina, learn long distance running techniques for the past few years.

Along with her husband, she got connected with the local marathon running group, Tower Twisters, which has around 500 members.

They form a small group and fix schedule where they run short distance (5 km) on Tuesdays, flyover and hillock running (Thursdays) and long distance running (14 km) on Saturdays.

“There is no special diet that I follow, I avoid oily food ,” she said.
