Villivakkam residents Jayashree Sridar (24) and Hindu Sree Sridar (21) are all set to represent India in the Fifteenth World Youth Bridge Team Championship, which starts on August 13 in Istanbul. They are the current national junior champions.
The sisters learnt the nuances of the game only a few years ago but mastered it quickly.
A. Sridar, their father and an avid Bridge player himself, says his daughters, after having read a lot about the sport, wanted to try it out and therefore joined Bridge classes in Mylapore.
Hindu Sree started playing in 2009 when she was in high school. After seeing her sister’s enthusiasm for the game, Jayashree soon joined the camp . There was no looking back for them. They participated in various events and won almost all of them.
They were recently selected by the Bridge Federation of India to represent the country at the tournament in Turkey.
Jayashree is currently working as Administrative Officer in National Insurance Company and pursuing her Master of Business Administration in Anna University (part time), while Hindu Sree is a project engineer at Wipro.
