Countering terrorism
In his eighth film, Oru Poo Oru Thuppaki, director Kalaipuli G. Sekaran conveys a strong message about national integrity. “The film deals with terrorism. A child, daughter of a senior police officer, is kidnapped by a group of terrorists. Her father has instilled in her a sense of national pride as well as trained her in defence tactics. While she challenges her captors, her father refuses to bow to their demands. The film talks about how the nefarious ways of the terrorists are countered effectively,” says Sekaran. Baby Keerthana plays the pivotal role, while Sai plays the villain.
A dream come true
A qualified pharmacist secretly nurtured a desire to act in films. That dream came true when director Gopu Balaji signed up Sarathy for the lead role in Paranjsothy . “I play the son of a rich man in a village. He doesn’t mind squandering away his family’s wealth on his vices. Paranjsothy tells the story of how this wastrel undergoes a change of heart,” says Sarathy who is paired with Ansiba in the film. For Sarathy, this debut role has already brought three scripts to his doorstep. “But, I will wait for the outcome of this film before taking up any other project,” says Sarathy, who trained with a Koothu-p-Pattarai troupe under Rajkumar.
