Shot Cuts: Three little words

Aadama Jaichomada

Her last two films, the critically acclaimed Vallamai Thaarayo and Kola Kolaya Mundhirika, might not have created a stir at the box office. Unfazed, Madhumita has just kick-started Moone Moonu Varthai ( MMV), a romcom, with the backing of producer S. P. Charan (Capital Film Works). “While it would be natural to think that ‘I Love You’ should be the three little words signifying the title, it is not so; MMV is about today’s youngsters set in modern Chennai. Newcomer Arjun Chidambaram and Venkatesh Harinathan of Sutta Kadhai and Irandam Ulagam fame play the twin lead roles opposite Aditi Chengappa. Both Arjun and Venkatesh have a theatre background and are ideally suited for the characters they play in the film. Aditi has acted in Telugu films and this would be her first Tamil movie. And, yes, the film is planned as an out-and-out commercial venture with all the right ingredients aimed at the box office,” says Madhumita who is already in the midst of her first extensive shooting schedule in the city.

Badri’s next on cricket

After directing movies such as Veerappu, Ai ndham P adai, Thambikku Indha Ooru and Thillu Mullu, director Badri focusses on the scandals plaguing the game of cricket today in his next film Aadama Jaichomada. “In our country, cricket was like a religion. Many children used to be encouraged by their parents to take to cricket while in school with the hope that they would make it big when they grew up. Of late, I find the reverse happening. There is so much going against the game that parents are scared that their wards’ future will be spoilt if they become professional cricketers. I found the subject of spot fixing to be ideal for my film, Aadama Jaichomada. It is a comedy and I do not intend conveying any message through it. Aadama Jaichomada is a complete entertainer,” says Badri. Shiva who acted in Badri’s Thillu Mullu has written the dialogues. Simha, Balaji, Vijayalakshmi, Radha Ravi and director K. S. Ravikumar are part of the cast.

Fun act, once again

The Imsai Arasan 23-am Pulikesi is back to keep the audience in splits. This time, comedian Vadivelu plays the character of Jagajala Pujabala Tenaliraman. Since it is a period film, massive sets replicating a fort and a palace have been erected at a huge budget. Also important scenes have been shot in Courtallam, Acchankovil and Puducherry. Besides directing the film, Yuvaraj Dayalan has penned the story and screenplay. Scheduled for release this April, the movie has been produced in a grand manner by AGS. Besides Vadivelu, the movie stars Meenakshi Dikshit, Radha Ravi, Manobala and Mansoor Ali Khan.
