“Superstar inspired me to become an actor at the age of four,” said Bobby Simha. I noticed that his body language was also similar to that of Rajinikanth, and when I mentioned it, Bobby said that Rajinikanth himself had told him the exact same thing.

Upon completing Class 10, Bobby had made it clear to his family that he was going to pursue a career in acting. But his father insisted that he first complete his education. And so, Bobby was sent to a college in Coimbatore. Utterly uninterested, Bobby decided that he would get himself suspended or debarred. So, on day one, he started chewing bubblegum and blowing bubbles in the classroom. When the lecturer pulled him up, he replied, “The way you are conducting the class, I will doze off if I don’t chew the gum.”

He was pretty sure he would be dragged to the principal’s office and dismissed. But it was an anticlimax. No such thing happened. In fact, the lecturer accepted him the way he was, and so did his college mates. He went on to become the head of the student’s gang. The anticlimaxes weren't over. Upon completing his education, he never got the degree certificate. In fact, his college called him to collect his degree only after he won the national award, but he never went back. When it was time for the shoot, all I could think was the bubble gum incident.
