“When I was young people kept saying that I would catch a cold if I ate an ice cream and I missed out on that pleasure as I didn't know it was a myth.

Now I don't bother, I eat and drink just about anything and everything as I have slowly built up my immunity levels,” says Malavika, the 23-year-old happening singer in Telugu movie industry. A commerce graduate, she has a degree in music and is now preparing to do Masters in Carnatic music.

Her mother, a music teacher and also a teacher in her school spotted her talent and encouraged her to sing in school choirs, so by the time she reached the seventh standard, Malavika had already crooned for Nagesh Kukunoor Rockford and a couple of years later, for Bollywood Calling .

Malavika has a sibling who lives in the US. Bollywood Calling . She adds, “My sister is a software engineer. When we were youn, we would compose tunes and sing but now she has a baby and got very busy.” Malavika has a melodious voice and can pick up any tune easily, so far she has 100 songs in her kitty.

Her day begins with music classes after which she goes for recording, she gets some assignment or the other every day be it devotional songs, jingles or private albums and when she is free she chills out by playing Wintendo or reading books.

“I'm a Cancerian, I don't have many friends, but I do hang around with my cousins sometimes and have fun with my colleagues when we go for musical shows and long distance travel like the recent US trip. I enjoy all kinds of music, but I prefer fast beats when we are on long drives,” avers Malavika.

Her most popular numbers are Evaru Lerani Anaku from Ek Niranjan , Bommali from Billa , Kanulaara Choodama from Simha and Nuvvu Nenu KalisunteneGangotri. Her forthcoming project is Solo .

The girl from Moula Ali cites her most memorable experience, “I wanted to meet Balu garu just once and I participated in Paadutha Theeyaga and I ended up winning the competition. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw my name besides his on the audio cover in a cassette shop; I had actually sung for a duet with him for Gangotri . It was a separate track recording and I was surprised and became emotional, it was a mixed feeling. God has been so kind.”
