Kadhal Paathai

What it is about…

Sri Balaji Frames' Kadhal Paathai is a love story which starts in Kodaikanal travels to Agra where it culminates in a powerful climax. The cast includes Vinod Kumar, Vidhya, Mansoor Ali Khan, ‘Thalaivasal' Vijay, Sanjana Singh, Sathyapriya, Theepetti Ganesan, Suman Shetty and Tarzan. The camera is handled by Ravi Srinivas and the editing is taken care of by Siva. The music is scored by S. S. Kumaran and the lyrics are by Murugan Manthiram. The screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Vyasan. The audio was recently released in the presence of FEFSI Siva, actor Srinivas, Kalaipuli Sekar and the cast and crew of the film.

Music Highlights

There are four songs in the film, all melodious. ‘Om Manasula' sung by Koushik is good, the saxophone enhancing it. ‘Ennavo Nenjiley', sung by Mahathi, is full of feeling. ‘Neethan Neethan' sung by Koushik, is pleasant. ‘Om Manasula' is once again sung by Koushik but this time with Sathya Nambirajan — it strikes an emotional chord.

What they say…

Producer K. Venkatesh:Kadhal Paathai has music beautifully interwoven in the narrative — music composer S. S. Kumaran has scored some melodious numbers. I owe a lot to my friend Sajjan, who is a joint producer of the movie.

Director Vyaasan:Kadhal Paathai is like a travelogue, starting from Kodaikanal and ending in Agra. We shot the film, travelling by bus and car from one place to another as the story evolved. It was like an adventure as we did not know where we would be going the next day or where we intended to stay. Here a word of appreciation for Vidhya, the beautiful and hard-working heroine, for, she never asked where she would be staying or things like that. All the shots were cranked by cinematographer Ravi Srinivas in the available light.

Hero Vinod Kumar: I have been keen on acting in films from childhood. In school, dancing, acting and other extra-curricular activities always interested me. After completing school, I enrolled for an animation course. I simultaneously worked on my body language and was into modelling too. Eventually, I got my first movie and my father support me. But for him, I would not be here. Kadhal Pathai is an out and out love story; we all travelled together like a family.

Music director S. S. Kumaran: It is a pleasure to work in a film which has no ‘kuthu' song, but offering a lot of scope for re-recording. The hero and heroine travel across 12 states. I composed the music to suit the storyline. Rarely does one get such a challenging film. Kadhal Pathai has some melodious numbers which will surely click with the audience.
