Boman Irani

Boman Irani

Mumbai calling

Trisha Krishnan makes her big Bollywood debut in the Priyadarshan-directed “Khatta Meetha”, and the best part is that she gets to act opposite Akshay Kumar in this one. The first look of this film is out and is generating curiosity with Akki shedding his oft-repeated Punjabi boy character for a Maharashtrian look. The film is a remake of “Vellanakalude Nadu”, the 1988 Malayalam political satire starring Mohanlal and Shobhna.

Boman alert

Boman Irani is proving to me a one-man army, and a potential threat to other industry people. Why? Because this photographer-turned-actor is turning singer! The multi-faceted Boman announced that he's going to be singing alongside Shankar Mahadevan at the Teachers' Awards in Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, Pune and Hyderabad. Boman will belt out numbers such as ‘Give Me My Sunshine' from “3 Idiots” and Frank Sinatra's ‘My Way'. He was reportedly encouraged by Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan in this endeavour to reach for the mike! While he is candid enough to admit that he'd require lots of help from Shankar, Boman also says he's not averse to singing in films, though he's not interested in making it a career.

Dance baby dance

You'll soon see acclaimed rapper Hard Kaur in the Hindi film Patiala House. Guess how she landed that role? Apparently, director Nikhil Advani and Akshay Kumar saw an episode of hers on the dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' last year and offered her the role of a Punjabi girl in the U.K. who is petrified of her dad (Rishi Kapoor) but wants to do what her heart bids. The sassy lady is already being offered more acting roles, but right now, she's awaiting the release of her new single ‘Desi Dance' with American hip hop group D 12.
