“Suriya has Rs.50 crore market potential in Andhra, Telangana”

Says Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja, who is distributing Suriya’s 24

Suriya’s 24, which is releasing in an estimated 2150 screens worldwide, will also release in a record number of screens (225 screens) for the film’s two versions (Tamil and Telugu) in the U.S. This number is nearly a third more than the number of screens Vijay’s Theri (144) released in.

“Suriya sir is the kind of actor that attracts all kinds of audiences...apart from his set of loyal fans. I believe he has a Rs.50-crore market in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone,” says Gnanavelraja of Studio Green, who’s distributing the film in Tamil Nadu and A.P/Telegana regions.

Attributing Suriya’s success in other markets to a combination of the content of his films and his hard work, Raja says that his confidence in the project was such that Studio Green decided to distribute the film themselves, without reselling it to smaller, local players.

24 is Suriya’s production house 2D Entertainment's third film after last year's 36 Vayadhinile and Pasanaga 2.

“That’s the faith one has in Suriya, not just as an actor but also as a producer. You’d be surprised to see how good he is even with the business aspects of film making.”

24, directed by Vikram K. Kumar with music by A.R. Rahman, will release on May 6.
