Despite getting mixed reviews, Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum was praised by producer Gautham Menon and that’s good enough for debutant director Premsai. “He came forward to produce it, after looking at my script, and was happy about the film.” On the script, he says, “The idea was to show the travails of a common man who’s struggling to make ends meet. Though such stories have been made before, I felt this hadn’t really got its due.”

On comparaisons with Hollywood film Premium Rush , which was released in 2012, Premsai says it’s a coincidence that the lead character was a courier boy in the film. “I registered the film’s title five years back, and the making got delayed due to various factors until Gautham Menon came forward to produce it,” he says.

Premsai, who has previously assisted Prabhu Deva, has started work on his next script.

All he can say about it now is that “it will be completely different.”
