Vizag Film Society (VFS) is organising Dussehra Short Film Festival at the Visakha Public Library, Dwaraka Nagar, on October 13 from 6 pm to 8.30 pm.

VFS has selected seven short films from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana — Break up (19 mins), Chotu (13 mins), Pratigna (11 mins), Attender to IAS (23 mins), Chini Talli (12 mins), Eesamajaniki Aamayandi (8 mins) and Sand Castle (5 mins).

The films were a part of 20 films which were screened in a film festival at Vijayawada last month on the occasion of 123rd birth anniversary of Gurram Jashuva, a Telugu poet.

The objective of the event is to encourage aspiring film-makers to make short films. Narava Prakasarao, secretary, VFS said, “With improved cameras on smart phones, making short films has become a lot easier. We hope this festival encourages people to make films and share their perspectives from the city.”

The guests for the event are film director Suneel Kumar Reddy, actor-trainer L Satyanand, actor SK Mistro and State chairman, Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry Federation G Sambasiva Rao .

Satyanand said, “Short films are a platform where the budding actors, writers and directors get to improve and demonstrate their understanding of basic concepts.”
