‘Indian Summer’ is one of those mesmerically game-changing tracks of 2015 put out by a then 23-year-old Jai Wolf – real name Sajeeb Saha – and it’s still a favourite. Now fans can see a live set of the track among many other ones as he enjoys his tour throughout India, as the two-year-old track was released in video form in August, reigniting excitement.

Bangladeshi-born Jai Wolf, having burst onto the scene in 2011, quickly moved from bootleg remixes to creating singles on his own in a very short time frame — something towards which many DJs work. “I’ve always enjoyed this ethereal, melodic and beautiful music, I just needed to find a way to express it. It took years to hone in on the message I wanted to send, too. So, it was a lot of trying different things before I finally got here.”

With support from eminent EDM music figures like Dirty South, Alesso and Skrillex, Jai Wolf has become a fast favourite for those who use music as a form of escapism and it’s a distinct trait in singles like ‘Starlight’, ‘Drive’ and ‘Like It’s Over.’ Having become a regular touring musician, he’s learned that walking into things unprepared happens a lot, explaining, “I never really got any advice about this life and I had to figure a lot out on my own. I’ve received a lot of advice from other artists but in terms of being a travelling musician, it’s just about taking it day by day and making sure you can compartmentalise things. It can be demanding – like now, I’m doing three days in a row so I have to keep my energy in check and not just party constantly. It’s really about understanding the demands and not overstepping, ultimately making sure you’re able to give your best at every performance.”

Having revelled in his first tour of South East Asia, the New Yorker is looking forward to more international performances. He just performed in Kolkata and Hyderabad is the second leg of this tour. He shares the experience has been truly great as it’s his first time in India, adding, “It’s something we’ve been talking about for a really long time. Just right off the bat, it was a cool experience in Delhi; the crowd was really perceptive.” Considering dance music is a huge thing in India, he’s looking forward to sharing his own energetic and fun Mom + Pop tunes and hopes to challenge crowds with musical subcultures they may or may not have heard before.

Jai Wolf shares that 2018 will be a big year for him production-wise, explaining there’s a lot in production, proving there’s no slowing him down.

The spacious setting of Rendezvous will make for a great night. Crowds can probably look forward to experience-enhancing pyrotechnics and a great selection of food and drinks to keep the energy alive. Accompanying Jai Wolf will be EDM duo Answer from Bengaluru and Hyderabadi DJ Lil D. ( Jai Wolf, Answer and DJ Lil D will be taking the Sunburn Arena KSHMR Afterparty by storm tonight at RendezVous, Financial District at 10pm. For reservations, call 8897561111 or 9032338252 .)
