Adivi Saikiran who directed films such as Vinayakudu , Village lo Vinayakudu and Kerintha is ready with his next project, an action-romance titled Operation Gold Fish . What sets the film apart is that members of the cast as well as technicians are fellow producers or partners.

Saikiran reveals that his film is a fictional, contemporary story based on real incidents, “The genocide of Kashmiri pandits in the late 80s has its resonance on the story. We shot the film in Kashmir valley, Lambasingi, Araku, and Hyderabad.”

People in business might perk up at the thought of a new business model, but actors and technicians will come aboard only if they are convinced about the story and the project, asserts Saikiran. “They all liked my story and then I pitched the business strategy where all of them will be partners. They agreed,” he says.

The film introduces Sasha Chetri (the Airtel 4G girl), and also stars Nithya Naresh and Parvateesam (both featured in Kerintha ), Aadi Saikumar, Karthik Raju and Anish Kuruvilla. Abburi Ravi, writer for hits like Goodachari and Bommarillu , and Manoj Nandam play the antagonists while Krishnudu will feature in a comic role.

Convincing Abburi Ravi took Saikiran more than three months. “He is more than just a script writer. He took my story and designed the entire script. He was extremely reluctant to act and finally relented for a look test and an audition,” says Saikiran. Abburi Ravi chips in stating that this is a one-off acting assignment and he has no intention to continue acting: “I have a fiery look in the film and not sure how my family would react. I am working towards becoming a director soon and that’s where my focus lies. Earlier, I was approached to act in Kshanam and later Satyam Rajesh was roped in for the same role.”

Operation Gold Fish will have music by Sricharan Pakala, lyrics by Ramajogayya Sastry, cinematography by Jaipal Reddy, and editing by BH Garry who did the honours for Kshanam and Goodachari .
