Leaders of the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi expressed condolences to the bereaved family of Telugu actor and comedian Kunath Venu Madhav.
The 50-year-old passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad due to kidney and liver-related problems at around 12.20 p.m. on Wednesday.
Hailing from Kodad town in the district, Venu Madhav moved to the State capital for opportunities in the movie industry.
Energy Minister G. Jagadish Reddy, expressing grief at his death, said Venu Madhav got through challenging times and achieved great heights. “We will always feel proud that he is the son of Suryapet,” he said.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed sympathies and regarded him as one of the best comedians Telangana will be proud of.
He was recognised by the Andhra Pradesh government in 2006 for his excellence and given the Nandi Award for best male comedian.
It may be recalled, Venu Madhav had filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the Kodad Assembly constituency in November 2018. However, his nomination was rejected for technical reasons.
