Indian cricketer and Chennaiite Ravichandran Ashwin has found himself unwittingly embroiled in the latest Ajith-Vijay, or rather, ‘Thala-Thalapathy’ fight, as it’s commonly known online.

Ashwin, who is a self-confessed Kollywood buff, was clearly disgusted at the action of Ajith fans, who randomly started spreading a Vijay death hoax on Monday morning and trended the hashtag #RIPActorVijay nationally. Vijay fans, in turn, responded with their own hashtag #LongLiveVijay.

Ashwin hit out at the drama in a tweet, posting, “There was an asteroid that missed hitting our planet a few days ago, irregular monsoons hitting different cities, droughts in many parts of our country and very disturbing criminal cases being spoken, but the young generation of our lovey state manage to trend this #RIPactorVIJAY.”

However, by using the hashtag himself, Ashwin found himself earning the ire of Vijay fans who claimed that because of his huge following, his tweet shows up in searches, and that he was contributing to the negativity. An exasperated Ashwin finally posted, “Lets cut the fuel to this fire,” before logging off.
