A day ahead of the release of biopic ‘NTR-Kathanayakudu,’ Hindupur MLA and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna on Tuesday said that his father was a byword for discipline and perseverance.

“Our film will be depicting the life of NTR in new angles, which most of us are not aware of,” he said.

Mr. Balakrishna along with key cast and crew of the biopic was addressing a press conference at PGR Theatre here, after unveiling the statue of the late leader on the premises. His co-star Vidya Balan, who played NTR’s spouse Basavatarakam, Sumanth who donned the role of Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and Kalyan Ram who did the role of Harikrishna, were present. “NTR came into politics for the sake of people. It was my father who inspired me to come into films and public life,” he said.

‘Rare event’

“It is a rare event in the annals of film history of the world that a son is doing the role of his father. NTR belonged to no group or region. I did not try to imitate NTR, but live in the character,” Mr Balakrishna said. Marking the release of the biopic, the statues of NTR had been unveiled at 100 theatres all over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
