Vinay Rajkumar, son of Raghavendra Rajkumar, and the grandson of the legendary Dr Rajkumar, is awaiting the release of his film, Ananthu V/S Nusrath. The film, directed by Sudheer Shanbhouge, will release on December 28 .

Vinay plays a lawyer, Ananthu, who falls in love with the female protagonist, Nusrath, also a lawyer. “This film is unlike the usual romance stories ,” assures Vinay, who started acting at the age of five with a role in Aakasmika. He continued with cameos till his debut as the lead in the romantic film Siddhartha , for which he won the Best Debut Actor Award at the South Indian International Movie Awards.

The actor reveals why the movie is is special. “It is about relationships, which is important for us. That is where we need to put in our time and effort, which seems to be lacking today. The story stresses on relationships — among parents, children, couples, and so on. It is about how Ananthu, deals with his relationships and copes with it at a personal level and as a lawyer.”

He says, “We have tried to show the similarities between the two religions and not the differences. The religion is just a backdrop to build the characters on.”

Vinay is also shooting for his next film, Gramayana . He says, “In this film, I play a rural boy. When most youngsters from villages are leaving their roots, looking for a future in cities, I think villages will be soon be left empty. This film talks about the beauty of rural life, the simplicity of the people living there. I went and lived in villages to understand their mannerisms, body language, and lifestyle. In the film, I play an intelligent boy who has no clarity about what he wants to do in his life.”

Does his legacy add to his work pressure? Vinay responds, “No. I don’t let that get to me. I want to choose roles that make me happy as a performer. I want to follow my heart and not do something just to boost my image or my career.”
