This one is a poor rehash of an earlier outing by director Vamsy

The title Fashion Designer s/o Ladies Tailor evoked some curiosity. One wanted to see what the son of Sundaram (Rajendra Prasad) would do and how flirtatious he would be and what problems he would fall into. The filmmaker neither dared to try something new nor make an attempt to retain the sanity and humour of the his original Ladies Tailor .

Sumant Ashwin took a bold risk in taking this role. Granted an actor should try all roles, and he did make an honest effort but his awkwardness is visible. The heroines too struggle to match the naivete and charm of the village belle and the dialect. Fashion Designer is just a rehash of the original.

Vamsy’s village belles are probably rough and tough; the hero kicks the leading lady more than once, he also throws huge gunny bags to make her unconscious. He stitches fashionable clothes by just glancing at the women…no measurements needed. Three women fall in love with him and he flirts with all, hoping to settle down with the richest one.

Significantly, he has blind faith in an astrologer who reads his palm. If Vamsy could dish out a hilarious film with a puttu matccha (birthmark) in the ’80s, he had a lot of material three decades later to play with an innovative ‘manmadha rekha’.

We finally wonder whether the women are high on hormones or couldn’t find a suitable boy in the village; even a girl from the city falls for the touch of this ladies tailor.

The visuals are beautiful, he brings a freshness in the picturisation of songs and shows Sumanth Ashwin can be a graceful dancer. Music is okay.

The dubbing is incongruous throughout; in one instance, the heroine screams first and then the visual of her falling down the staircase is played.

Humour? A comedian steals eggs and hides them in his pyjamas. Then he gets hit right on them, eggs hatch immediately and you find chicks walking then and there.

Neither funny nor interesting, it is just a story stuck in a time warp.
