Mr Villain

Chirag Jani tried his luck in modelling in Mumbai, after which he ended up in TV serials. “Around this time, I signed up to do a cameo role in Anjaan . I got an offer in a Hindi film titled Yahan Ameena Bikti Hai , produced and directed by Kumar Raj. It is a heroine-oriented film with the villain (Chirag) playing the main male character. It’s a film that’s being made for the festival circuit,” says Chirag, who is currently doing a negative role in director Puri Jagannath’s Rogue , a Telugu-Kannada bilingual. “Only after this will I finalise my next project in Tamil,” he adds.

A new Madurai

Abi Saravanan is all smiles. The Madurai-based actor has been roped in by director Shankar Pandi to play the lead role in his upcoming film, Pattathari . “It’s not the usual aruvaal-wielding Madurai character that I play in this film. It shows another side to the Temple city. My parents, who were against me venturing into films, are now happy as my home town is being featured in it. Athithi and Rasika play the two female leads,” says Abi, who is busy with two other films – Saayam and Ethirkol .
