Even as director Karthik Naren awaits the release of Naragasooran , which is in caught in a legal tangle, he has moved on and signed his next. Karthik will work on Mafia , a gangster drama, with Arun Vijay in the lead. Prasanna will play the antagonist, while Priya Bhavani Shankar has been signed on as the female lead.
Karthik says, “After I wrote the script, the first person that came to mind was Arun Vijay. He had just finished Thadam then – and so I narrated Mafia to him, and he loved it.”
The young director, who shot to fame in Tamil cinema post his critically-acclaimed Dhruvangal 16 , says that Mafia has the potential to be a franchise in the future. “As of now, we are concentrating on getting the first part right.” The shoot for the film, produced by Lyca Productions, will kickstart later this week in Chennai.
