Up for a break? Young director Pramod Mohan and Co. might just have the right solution for you. Let’s Take a Break , their debut video album, to be released on YouTube on February 10 at 7 p.m. is bound to strike a chord with anyone who wants to take a break from the world of virtual reality.
“ Let’s Take a Break is a reminder to tech addicts that it’s high time to switch off those smart phones and disconnect from social media and reconnect with reality,” says Pramod, mediaperson and director of the teen sitcom series Just Fun: Chumma that used to air on Amrita TV. “I had always dreamed of making a musical rom-com, with Sreeram Ramachandran, the lead actor of Chumma and a few others. This is the first step in that direction,” says Pramod.
The perils of mobile phone addiction, though, are not patently obvious in the video. Instead, it’s been ever so subtly conveyed, almost as a sub-track, through a breezy, light-hearted, romantic number, that’s just over four minutes long.
The message of Let’s Take a Break unfolds through the tale of three friends and their attempt to have a mobile phone-free day out in the sun, highlighting fun, frolic, friendship, touching upon facets of withdrawal anxiety and the benefits of simply talking to people. Director Jude Anthany Joseph of Ohm Shanti Oshaana and Oru Muthassi Gadha fame plays one of the three friends.
It has been sung by Sachin Warrier, Sharon Joseph and Arun Naik. The lyrics, ‘Minnum Veyil Naalam...’ are by Manu Manjith and were tuned by well-known jingle composer Ranjith Meleppat. The album has been produced by Shenuga, Sherga and Shegna under the banner of S Cube films, a new generation enterprise of old production house, Grihalakshmi Productions.
Pramod will soon be making his feature film debut with Orayiram Kinakkalal , starring Biju Menon in the lead.
