For the last three days, the Pottermore machinery has been working overtime.

The website has released the first photos of the cast of the new two-part play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child — and they’re everything we were hoping for!

“We’re just a week away from the first preview of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two and today we are thrilled to share character portraits of Harry, Ginny and Albus Severus Potter, as they will appear in the play,” said the statement accompanying the release.

The website has also released photos of the other main characters of the play — Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley, Harry and Ron’s arch nemesis Draco Malfoy and his son Scorpius Malfoy.

All the actors are in full costume and make-up and are quite tight-lipped about the play and what is to come, according to Pottermore.

The statement also revealed that technical rehearsals are currently going on for the plays. “The technical rehearsal is where you put all the components together,’ said actor Paul” Thornley, who plays Ron Weasley, to Pottermore. “All the lights, the sound, the magic — which I’m not going to tell you about — the illusions — which I’m not going to tell you about — and the costumes, and for us to find our places on the stage. We also try to all fit backstage and get the various scenery on and off without bumping into each other, which is sometimes successful.”

The costumes have been designed by Katrina Lindsay. The Hogwarts robes, in particular, seem to have received a redesign from the original we all know and love.

Do you think they look like the Harry Potter characters you have been imagining so far?
