Telugu film industry received yet another jolt with the death of veteran writer Ganesh Patro at Chennai on Monday morning. He was 69.
In his career spanning nearly five decades, Mr. Patro, a native of Parvathipuram in Vizianagaram district, wrote dialogues for more than a hundred Telugu and Tamil films.
Mr. Patro began his career in 1965 and had scripted the success of many films of the legendary director K. Balachander. Maro Charithra, Idi Kadha Kadu, Mayuri, Rudraveena and Seetharamayya Gari Manavaralu are some of the super hit movies for which he wrote dialogues.
Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimallechettu , which featured Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu in the lead roles, was his last project.
Mr. Patro received regional and national awards for films like Swathi, Mayuri, Seetharamayya Gari Manavaralu, Aakali Raajyam and Chilakamma Cheppindi . He was a recipient of Akkineni Nageswara Rao birthday award in 2009 and Athreya Literary Award in 2013.
He was also an accomplished playwright with several award winning dramas like ‘Koduku Puttali’ and ‘Aalochinchandi’ to his credit. Some of his works were translated into other Indian languages.
