Asset leap among MLA candidates

MLAs who are candidates for re-election in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland — where the Assembly polls have just concluded — declared a higher value of assets during this election.

In Tripura, MLAs from CPI(M) registered the largest average increase in assets (51% rise). In Meghalaya, the largest increase was registered with MLAs of the Peoples Democratic Front (258%), while in Nagaland, the largest rise was seen in MLAs of the Naga People's Front (43.58%).

 

The below chart shows the average increase in assets for MLAs of the three States.
