Thirteen years after Shivraj Singh Chouhan first took up the post of Chief Minister, the certainty of him regaining his seat has been called into question. While the Congress has not projected a clear chief ministerial candidate, exit polls predict a close race in the central State, with four out of five polls giving it to the Congress.

1. BJP and Congress are engaged in a neck-to-neck combat.

2. The Opposition Congress was leading in 110 seats, a far improved performance over the 58 seats it has in the outgoing House, while BJP was ahead in 108 constituencies.

3. Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said the figures reflected the people’s desire for a change.

4. Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh expressed confidence that his party will form the government in Madhya Pradesh.

5. State Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia was leading in Shivpuri seat by a margin of 10,780 votes.

6. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was leading in Budhni seat over his nearest Congress rival
