The party has put up a candidate in the Andaman Islands and Mr. Haasan will campaign for the candidate, Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee said following a meeting with the actor at the State Secretariat.

“Tamil Nadu and Bengal will be working together. We are grateful for this initiative taken by him and his party,” said Ms. Banerjee. In view of large Tamil and Bengal population in the island, MNM and Trinamool have decided to “work together” in the islands, a source said.

“Right now the focus is on Andaman, and I support my region as well as Bengal [because] I love Bengal a lot and I will campaign in the Andaman for both the communities,” Mr. Haasan said.
