Three-tier security in place with surveillance cameras fixed

District Election Officer and Collector T. Arun on Monday reviewed the security arrangement in place at the counting centres in Government Women’s Polytechnic and Motilal Nehru Government Polytechnic in Lawspet.

The counting centre established at Women’s Polytechnic College will cover the constituencies of Mannadipet, Thirubhuvanai (Reserved), Oussudu (Reserved), Mangalam, Villianur, Ozhukarai, Lawspet, Kalapet, Uppalam, Orleanpet and Mudaliarpet.

The counting centre at Motilal Nehru Government Polytechnic will cover the constituencies of Kathirkamam, Indira Nagar, Thattanchavady, Kamaraj Nagar, Muthialpet, Raj Bhavan, Nellithope, Ariyankuppam, Manavely, Embalam (Reserved), Nettapakkam (Reserved) and Bahour.

Mr. Arun said a three-tier security arrangement had been put in place and CCTVs installed to monitor the premises round the clock. The centres would be manned by the Central Reserve Armed Force and the local police. Party candidates could visit the centre and a log book would be maintained, he added.
