Congress, AINRC and MNM candidates file papers

All three declare assets and liabilities; Subramanian of MNM is the richest

Congress candidate V. Vaithilingam, All India N.R. Congress candidate K. Narayanasamy and Makkal Needhi Maiam nominee M.A.S. Subramanian filed their nomination papers for the Lok Sabha election on Friday.

Minister for Public Works A. Namassivayam, DMK MLA R. Siva, CPI leader R. Viswanathan and CPI(M) T. Murugan accompanied Mr. Vaithilingam.

The papers were filed before T. Arun, District Electoral Officer, who is also the Returning Officer.

Mr. Narayanasamy filed his papers in the presence of AINRC chief N. Rangasamy, AIADMK leader A. Anbalagan and BJP leader V. Saminathan. MNM candidate M.A.S. Subramanian filed his papers along with his close associates.

The other candidates in the fray are S. Motilal (Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist Liberation), Sharmila Begum (Naam Tamilar Katchi), K. Arunachalam (Agila India Makkal Kazhagam) and K. Vijayakumar (independent).

Assets and liabilities

In the affidavit filed before the returning officer, Mr. Subramanian, a two-time legislator, declared that his movable assets, including bank deposits, vehicles and jewellery, were worth ₹12,72,28,395. His spouse has movable assets to the tune of ₹15,59,127 and dependent ₹18,99,460.

He has declared that his immovable assets were worth ₹4,55,92,716 and that of his spouse were worth ₹9,06,38,902. He and his wife together possessed 176 gram of gold. His wife has a loan of ₹2,88,20, 830.

Two-time Chief Minister and Congress candidate Mr. Vaithilingam has declared movable assets totalling ₹2,94,99,161. He has declared that his spouse’s movable assets total ₹2,55,46,385. He has declared that his immovable assets, including self acquired and inherited, were worth ₹5,50,45,546. His wife has immovable assets totalling ₹1,17,04,400.

Mr. Vaithilingam has declared that he has gold weighing 50 grams and his wife 900 grams.

Mr. Narayanasamy of the AINRC has declared that his movable assets totalled ₹2,34,32,540 and spouse ₹23,43,474. He has agriculture land worth ₹1,13,36,700 and non-agriculture land worth ₹1,98,75,180.

Mr. Narayanasamy owns a flat worth ₹2,05,00,000. He owns 6.5 kg gold and his wife 400 grams of gold.
