At the eleventh hour, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday changed its candidate for the Jalgaon Lok Sabha seat, replacing MLC Smita Wagh with Chalisgaon Legislator Unmesh Patil. Speculation was rife about the candidate change, which had been triggered by intense intra-party resentment ever since the ruling party announced Ms. Wagh’s candidature last month. The 40-year-old Mr. Patil, a first-time MLA, filed his nomination papers on Thursday.
