A former editor of a Bengali newspaper, known for his proximity to the RSS, a former Trinamool Congress Minister known for his proximity to BJP leader Mukul Roy, an actor past his prime and three doctors feature in the BJP’s 10th list of 10 candidates.

Resentment surfaced in the BJP camp after the list was published as BJP leaders and cadres asked if the party is “serious about dislodging the Trinamool in the State.”

“This is like leaving Bengal to the Trinamool after cornering them,” said a senior BJP leader on condition of anonymity.

He, however, did not deny that the senior editor Rantidev Sengupta, known for his long association with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is a good candidate.
