The Congress on Saturday named former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in the 90-member Assembly.

At a press conference at the party headquarters, Congress general secretary in charge of Haryana Ghulam Nabi Azad said the newly elected lawmakers of the party had left the decision of appointing the CLP leader to party president Sonia Gandhi.
Ms. Gandhi appointed Mr. Hooda as the new CLP leader and “the proposal was passed unanimously,” Mr. Azad said.
