The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its manifesto for the Haryana Assembly election, with a focus on farmers, youth, women and healthcare in a bid to regain power in the State.
Party working president J.P. Nadda said that, if elected, the BJP government would would focus on villages, farmers and the deprived during the next five years. He said the party’s manifesto ‘Mhare Sapne Ka Haryana’ had been prepared keeping in mind every section of society.
“BJP government in Haryana led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had been able to give a corruption-free and transparent administration. We are working for the well-being of all with ‘Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas’ motto,” he said.
The party in its 32-page document, which it said was a ‘commitment paper’, promised to take steps to double farmers’ income by 2022 after it formed the next government.
The key promises include interest-free crop loan of up to ₹3 lakh to farmers. Besides, collateral free loan of up to ₹3 lakh to the Scheduled Caste people. The party also promised to provide skill training to 25 lakh youth by spending ₹500 crore.
Apart from assuring old-age pension of ₹3,000, it said 2,000 health and wellness centre would be set up across the State. For women’s safety, self-defence training would be provided in every village.
Mr. Nadda said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently said in Rewari, Haryana, that the demand pertaining to One Rank One Pension (OROP) would be fulfilled.
“I can tell you that ₹12,000 crore have been disbursed for such cases (OROP) and 22 lakh cases have been heard. Now there’s no case of OROP which is pending,” said Mr. Nadda.
