Senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P.Chidambaram on Tuesday slammed the BJP government in Gujarat over the bridge collapse tragedy of Morbi saying the incident exposed the hollow governance in the State.

Addressing the media in Ahmedabad, the former minister said that nobody took responsibility and apologised for the deaths of over 100 innocent people.

“Morbi bridge collapse has brought shame to the fair name of Gujarat. The most shocking development is that no one, on behalf of the government or the ruling party has apologised for the tragedy. No one has resigned for taken responsibility,” he said.

The former minister was in Gujarat to campaign for his party. He also slammed the State government stating that it was being “run from Delhi” while the Chief Minister of the State was just in name.

He also took on the AAP and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over air pollution in Delhi and alleged that the AAP government in the national capital completely failed to tackle pollution. According to him, both AAP and BJP governments talk big and under deliver.

The Gujarat Assembly election will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5 and the counting of votes will be on December 8.
