Jagan Mohan Reddy meets Modi; discuss SCS to Andhra

According to party sources, Mr. Reddy will extend invitation for his swearing-in to Mr. Modi.

YSR Congress Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-designate Y S Jaganmohan Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi on Sunday.

Mr. Reddy, whose party stormed to power on Thursday with a landslide victory in Assembly polls, discussed the issues of special category status to Andhra Pradesh and the State’s financial situation and sought central funds during the meeting with Mr. Modi at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence, sources said.

Mr. Jagan also met BJP president Amit Shah and sought his support for the State’s key demands.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted "Had an excellent meeting with Andhra Pradesh’s CM designate ysjagan. We had a fruitful interaction on several issues pertaining to AP’s development. Assured him all possible support from the Centre during his term."

During his election campaign, the YSRCP chief had said his party would support whoever promises SCS to Andhra Pradesh and made it clear in Saturday's YSRC Legislature Party meeting that SCS topped his agenda.

Meanwhile, May 30 has been finalised as the date for swearing-in of Mr. Jagan as the CM at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Vijayawada, for which he invited Telangana CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao and other dignitaries.

According to party sources, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy will extend invitation for his swearing-in to Mr. Modi.
