Indian professional education is on par with the best institutions in the world. Not only does this move bring relief to Indians currently in the UAE, in the future, it will also encourage an increased inflow of Indian students to get opportunities internationally, eventually contributing positively to the economy of the UAE. Equivalency can also facilitate regular exchange of students, increased faculty visits and a larger number of Indian students seeking to gain international academic exposure.

In addition, this will help students push for a similar move in other other countries. The external benefit is that it will aid students reach any corner of the world without worrying about their mark sheet.

The decision taken by the Ministry of Education, UAE, is a titanic relief to the Indian students and those seeking employment who were earlier struggling to get equivalence for their degrees. In order to ensure this equivalency, Indian universities should avoid issuing internal and external mark sheets separately as part of their degrees. This might help to ensure some degree of equivalence.

The Indian community is one of the largest, in terms of students studying abroad. Achieving equivalency for Indian degrees around the globe is debatable. With protectionism on the rise, it would be difficult for other governments to take a similar measure as it can disrupt the education sector as well as the jobs market. Thus, we must observe how the application of this step would impact the UAE to see if it can be replicated elsewhere.
