The number of career options for youngsters on the threshold of employment is now mind-boggling. Despite the plenty, careers are not offered on a platter. To take a particular career path, often additional skills have to be acquired. As a result of this, services of career coaches are being increasingly sought. Beyond the obvious functions, which include assessing an individual's strength on the critical skills required for a particular career and devising a quick “work-out regime” aimed at developing skills he is lacking in, career coaches bring invaluable skills to the table.

Broader perspective

Every career is encased in certain stereotypes and myths. Career Coaches help demystify a career, break down an individual's predetermined notions about it, and also bring out the true aspects of the career, using hard facts and case studies. As a result, the individual develops a broader perspective about the career. Career coaches also enable an individual to develop a clear-cut sense of self, opening his eyes to deep-rooted ambitions and distractions.

Domain expertise

Though well-informed, career coaches will not be aware of the specifics of every career, but they put their clients in touch with domain experts in various careers. Through interactions with these domain experts, their clients would not only understand the workings of various industries better, but also gain deep insights into various work profiles.

Actionable roadmap

A career doesn’t happen overnight. Resources, strategy, thought and direction go into crafting a great career. Career coaches prepare their clients not only for the present, but also the future, when the career would make new demands.
