Sixteen-year-old Saurabh strikes gold

Following wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, 16-year-old shooter Saurabh Chaudhary became India’s third gold medal winner at the Asian Games on Tuesday.

The teenager set a new Asian Games record of 240.7 on his way to gold in the 10 m air pistol competition. Bronze in the competition was also won by an Indian, as Abhishek Verma came in behind Japan’s Tomoyuki Matsuda (239.7) with a score of 219.3.

There was silver for Sanjeev Rajput in the 50 m rifle 3 positions event, while the Indian men’s regu team claimed a maiden Asian Games medal in Sepaktakraw after losing to Thailand in the semi-final, thereby settling for bronze.

Football

Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 2-0

Goals from James Milner (penalty) and Sadio Mane gave Liverpool a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, couldn’t get off to a winning start in La Liga as they were held 1-1 away at Valencia.
