My humble ABODE

Step into my parlour, said the spider...but I say “Welcome home!”

What’s a good place to chill out when bored? It’s our abode.

“Home sweet home; there’s no place like your home.”

Your abode is where you live and that is, undoubtedly, the best place in the world.

The abode of the royal family could be the grandest of palaces, but it is the place where the king finds solace at the end of a tiring day.

The poor labourer’s abode might be his thatched home where he can rest his weary limbs.

“Welcome to our humble abode ,” is just a formal way of welcoming guests to your home...your abode . You may have a mansion, but want to play down the grandeur of it and so you would welcome your guest in the most humble manner.

An interesting fact is that if you replace the o in abode with a c you get the first five letters of the English alphabet a,b,c,d,e.
