Shikhar Dhawan (107) became the first Indian to score a century before lunch on the first day of a Test match, Murali Vijay (105) took a more measured approach to notch up his ton and the Indian openers feasted upon the debutants Afghanistan.

Afghanistan, however, struck twice in three deliveries in the final session of the day to dismiss Vijay and Lokesh Rahul (54).

Football

Spain play Portugal in Group B encounter

There are three matches in the FIFA World Cup to be played on Friday. Egypt, with or without Mohamed Salah, will be taking on Uruguay, expected to top the group, in the second Group A game.

In Group B, Morocco take on Iran, but all eyes will be on the other game from the group which sees European champions Portugal face off against 2010 champions Spain.
