Usha International is eyeing high double-digit growth in its air cooler business for the current fiscal, said Bharat Kharbanda, assistant vice president, head marketing, Fans & Home Comfort.
“Last year, the industry posted 10-12% growth. We grew faster than that,” said Mr. Kharbanda.
Having clocked sales income of more than Rs. 1,000 crore in the fans business last year, the firm is hopeful of achieving ‘high double-digit’ growth this fiscal.
Usha International has decided to expand its air cooler product portfolio by introducing 12 new models. “For customers, we have started rolling out a couple of products from March 2017 onwards. The rest of it will be rolled out in the coming months,” he said.
“Innovation is our core of our strength. We have brought in several pieces of innovations such as the largest kids’ fan featuring Chhota Bheem, Barbie, and Doremon among others.” Mr. Kharbanda said, adding the company has changed the look, style and aesthetic appeal of fans over the years.
“Very soon, Dilip Chhabria, a renowned Indian car designer, will start customising ceiling fans for us,” he said.
The fans will be manufactured at our Hyderabad unit. It will be rolled out in couple of models, but with multiple finishes, according to Mr. Kharbanda.
