RBI approves Brahm Dutt as Yes Bank chairman

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Brahm Dutt as part-time, non-executive chairman of Yes Bank. Mr. Dutt has been on the Board of the bank since July 2013.

He has been appointed till July 4, 2020, that is, when he attains the age of 70.

Yes Bank board approved Mr. Dutt’s appointment as chairman on 13 December.

The chairman’s post in Yes Bank fell vacant after Ashok Chawla - a former bureaucrat resigned. Mr. Chawla was named in the chargesheet filed by CBI in the Aircel-Maxis case. During his career in the IAS for 37 years, Mr. Dutt held several posts in the State Government of Karnataka as well as in the Central Government and rose to the level of Secretary to Government of India.
